African Padauk is bright red in color, deepening in time to a very deep red. Usually fairly dense and heavy, coarse textured, with prominent open pores. Generally machines well regardless of density. One of the more striking exotic hardwoods, reddish orange upon initial cutting, maturing to a bright crimson with darker red and purple streaking. Hard, heavy and very decay resistant. This lumber serves beautifully for a variety of applications, including edging and veneers, inlays and marquetry, fine furniture, cabinetry and more. African Padauk is an ideal choice for the woodworking lathe, turning out virtually any objects you can imagine.
4/4 Padauk. Select grade, kiln dried, planed on both sides. Random widths, 3′ – 5′ lengths.
